Nel 1804 rispose, come abbiamo visto, all’appello del destino. Nel 1806 la sua
eredità fu in parte pignorata dai procuratori dei creditori, Joseph White (socio di
Mercier) per conto della maison Carcenac et Cie e Henry Paul Mariette per conto
del Sieur Laurette . Peraltro l’accenno ai prestiti su ipoteca in seguito fatti dalla

vedova (181) può forse suggerire dove fossero finite le pagode ricevute a Seringapatam.

o. Nota sulla corrispondenza segreta di Tipu Sultan
I documenti relativi alla quarta guerra anglo-Mysore trovati nel 1799 nella
reggia di Seringapatam e pubblicati nel 1799 e 1800 a cura della Compagnia
delle Indie (182) e l’edizione moderna di Kabir Kausar (1980) sono citati nelle note
precedenti con le seguenti abbreviazioni seguite dalle pagine:

di 250 pagode garantito da ipoteche su case e negozi; Ignaceraymoudéliar, «homme d’affaires
de la Dame Dubuc», riconosce che il convenuto ha versato alla defunta un anticipo di 31
pagodas «à l’étoile» di cui non era stata rilasciata ricevuta.
