people, the age of our volunteers ranges between 18 and 20 years and I want
them to keep on, as we get off the street people who find in nature the chance
to improve this Country.

We very much believe in all this and keep our eyes open so that our asso-
ciation could carry on spreading this seed of hope even at a EU level. All toge-
ther, all these associations have proved also to the European Commission, with
the attempt to weaken the directives “birdlife and habitat”, by collecting peti-
tion signatures at an international level in cooperation with the WWF
International network, with “Bird Life International, of which Lipu, our asso-
ciation is the Italian partner, more than half a million signature as a sign of pro-
test.

Nobody had ever seen in Europe such a strong mobilisation to state that
the directives “habitat” and “birdlife “are fundamental judicial patrimony to
make sure that European nations would not step back in their commitment to
protect nature and of biodiversity

I’d like to close my speech reminding you of all our volunteers who, in this
very moment, are engaged in our territory. I also want to express my deep gra-
titude to Maurizio Santoloci for his deep commitment and for having faith in
this battle for legality: he is a person of great value who, through his courses,
has proved that we can still continue to specialise, to remain united and impro-
ve this country.
