people’s health and well-being; the policies adopted following the 21st
‘Conference of the Parties’ in Paris (COP21), aimed at halting global warming
and reducing emissions of carbon dioxide; and the management of waste in
Europe. These issues were explored by Dr Castro Salazar, Director General of
the Forestry Department of the FAO, Dr van Asch, in charge of the
International Consortium Against Environmental Crime, Dr Candotti of the
UNEP, Dr Bosello of the Euro Mediterraneo Centre for Climate Change, Dr
Lambertini, Director General of WWF International, Dr Shea of NATO, Dr
Fanti, European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and
Fishing.
As for Italy, first and foremost there was the extraordinary interest caused
by the round table discussion involving Dr Pennisi of the National Antimafia
Agency, don Ciotti, President of Libera, Professor Fara, President of Eurispes,
the leaders of environmental and animal-welfare groups, Dr Benedetto,
Director General of WWF Italy, Dr Mamone Capria, President of Lipu, Dr
Muroni, President of the Environment League, Pecoraro Scanio, President of
