THE INAUGURATION
On 6 June 1937, at 10 am, the refurbished premise of the Carabinieri historical museum was
inaugurated and open to the public. A solemn ceremony celebrated the event, emphasised
by units dressing old uniforms, starting from the foundation. Therefore, colonial Carabinieri
and Zaptié units were deployed, coming from the day before ceremony the “Festa dell’Arma”,
celebrating the 123 anniversary of the Carabinieri foundation in the nearby Carabinieri

Cadet Legion. There was a regiment of Carabinieri on foot with the flag of the corps and the
band, as well as a mounted regiment, accompanied by the fanfare of the Zaptié Carabinieri,
the indigenous Carabinieri coming from the Italian colonies, and a big representative of the
Carabinieri National Association. The presence of king, Vittorio Emanuele III, gave greater so-
lemnity to the event. Afterwards, the head of State, accompanied by Carabinieri generals
and by the director of the historical Museum, paid tribute to the fallen within the small shrine
inside the Museum. He then visited it allowing then the large crowd of visitors who has atten-
ded the military ceremony to enter and see the new exhibition setting.
