the hearts of Christians. Pope Francis reminds us all that the Vatican Council
and evangelizing have for everyone immediate repercussions concerning other
people and the life of the community. We are bound to others and we must
desire, search for and take to heart their good. In this way we will bring forward
the “Kingdom” in this earth. This bi-millennial concern of the Church, which
defines itself expert in humanity, has led it to develop a series of teachings on
various social issues, mainly at the end of the 19th century.

       These teachings constantly undergo new developments and can be sub-
ject to debate; however we can’t help being practical, without getting into
details, because great social principles should not be reduced to mere general
indications that don’t ask anybody any questions. They must produce practical
consequences. The Churches’ contribution to the debate on the environment
in the 21st century is based on the belief that God created nature, this won-
derful and orderly project of love, and that we are called upon to cooperate as
instruments of God to take care of creation; each one with their own culture
and experience, their own actions and abilities. Creation must be read in a uni-
versal vision/destination of resources. Natural resources, sources of energy,
