Tackling Environmental Crime throUgh standardized Methodologies

Good evening everyone. I would like to thank the General Tullio Del
Sette, for this invitation to greet the final session of your debate. I would like
to point out that it is only a greeting and not a speech, because I would rather
leave the speeches to the experts on the environment, the topic of today’
discussion.

However, in my greeting, I would like to highlight the work we have done
together with General Del Sette and other police chiefs to define an implemen-
ting decree within the reform of the Public Administration. It’s an important
decree that provides for the merging of the State Forestry Department into the
Carabinieri Corps. In the Cabinet we have already approved it as a preliminary
point. The United Conference (Coordinating Central State with regional autho-
rities) has already expressed a favourable opinion on the text. We are waiting,
in a few days, for the opinion of the Consiglio di Stato, then it will reach the
Parliament for its final approval. I believe it is important, on a day in which you
