INTRODUCTION
Since the fi rst Peace Operation
was established in the Middle
East in 1948, this type of opera-
tion has dramatically changed,
particularly in the last two deca-
des, forcing the United Nations
to create and readapt the system
to be more effi cient in the accom-
plishment of various challenges
in the new operational theatres.
During more than 70 years of
strong commitment to world pe-
ace, one of the prevalent, com-
plex and sensitive aspects of the
