is generated may also involve apical organs of the enterprises; a criminal law
that will go beyond the principle of non-responsibility of the legal person
which, at the same time, will reflect organisational models able to prevent irre-
gularities and, should irregularities materialise in any case, able to function, if
not as absence of liability, at least as mitigating circumstances.

      A criminal law which can alternate carrots to sticks, therefore not just by
confronting illegal practice of organised groups but also taking into account
the possibility of voluntary correction as to limit the consequences on the orga-
nisations of production and work as a whole.

      A criminal law which is not a one-way path but, instead, shows some ope-
ning to alternative measures affecting the company as a whole till its possible
ban and suspension from the market, and not only or limited to the individual
found guilty of the crime whose perspective is the deprivation from freedom.

      A criminal law which is constitutionally oriented, in the position to gua-
rantee, as we have already said, the safeguard of the essential interests: the con-
sumer’s health and the good working order of the economic circuit.

      A criminal law which reflects the daily life, which is able to accompany the
consumer and strengthen their trust starting from the field, to the supermarket
shelf and finally to the table.

      Finally a multifaceted criminal law, made possible by the new structure
given by the Panel of Experts who were able to combine academic competence
with the experience deriving from judicial and investigative activities and with
the experience the law enforcement and other specific experts made on the field.

      Ten points which can be summarised in the final goal of creating a “nar-
rating label”, a label which will tell the consumer the truth and nothing but the
truth, showing in a transparent manner, accessible also in the print format and
in an absolutely comprehensible style, how that product was obtained, what
production chain was followed, what ingredients were used. This should inclu-
de a description of the characteristics of that specific product in order to fully
inform consumers (this is something that seldom happens nowadays) of what
food or beverage they are actually buying.

      Please allow me two more points: I’ll be brief. In the project of reform
there is also a transitional provision which allows new fast procedures related
