If law enforcement wins everything is well, if they lose perhaps next time
it will go better. Meanwhile as an individual I am passively patient: if law enfor-
cement prevails no consequences will come to me as a citizen. It is, indeed, an
error to consider legality as inconvenience and also to see in it just a fight bet-
ween law enforcement and criminals: legality is a benefit; legality is the com-
mon good and produces advantages for the community and for the single
member of such community.
Without rules a game cannot be played otherwise it is fixed. When the
game is fixed it will be always the usual players who win and these players have
no need whatsoever of rules, in fact less rules means prevailing on others: they
start from a position of supremacy, privilege, abuse of power, exploitation and
rules would only limit them, hold back their attack.
These are not just words, they are also facts. Let’s consider the large-scale
criminality, all the illegal behaviours involving money: tax evasion, corruption,
mafia economy. The result is a turnover showing very high figures, a tremen-
dous robbery, an outrageous impoverishment, a misappropriation of resources,
and a degradation in our quality of life. All this proves that legality is beneficial.
