brings with it opportunities for prosperity and the future development of the
planet and its peoples’. We feel this responsibility strongly ourselves. We want
to take these opportunities, together with all those people of good will who
care about the preservation of humanity, the animals, forests, the environment,
nature and the planet, people who have, to borrow the words of President
Realacci, a love of legality and a love of the land they live in, just like us.

I conclude, therefore, by affirming that the Carabinieri will continue to
make every effort to live up to the expectations which our institutions and com-
munities place upon it, including in the fundamentally important area of the
environment. To contribute to its protection and safeguarding is an honourable
task, suitable for the police force of a free country based on the rule of law, a
police force which is conscious of the present, but is also looking to the future.
