Finally, we need to focus on corruption. Corruption is a major facilitator
of wildlife crime. But we also need to understand that even if we were to eli-
minate corruption, wildlife crime would not suddenly disappear. In many coun-
tries wildlife crime continues because officials simply do not know how to tac-
kle wildlife crime: they do not know what to do. We can help them gain a better
understanding of wildlife crime and build their capacity to fight it along the
entire criminal justice system.
