The proposed new portfolio for “Protecting our European Way of Life”
(a new portfolio but by no means a new concept for the EU policies)(10) in the
EU incoming Commission - harshly criticised by several MEP because «this
name, which makes a link between immigration and protecting a European way
of life, is the direct validation of the words of the far-right for whom immi-
grants are barbarians who threaten our way of life»(26) - seems to be another
hint of the increasing isolationism of EU policies in the field of migration and
asylum.
