Third bilateral meeting with the Usa
Department of State
Vicenza, 24-26 March

The CoESPU has held the third bilateral meeting with the
USA Department of State representatives.
The delegates have been received by General Rocca, CoESPU Director,
among them Mr Mike Smith of Global Peace Operations Initiative
(GPOI) and Mrs. Jennifer Hanley of Foreign Affair
Officer.
The workshop has been attended also by Col. Parrulli on behalf of
the Carabinieri Command Headquarter -Plans and Military Police
Office.
During the meeting the incoming CoESPU's initiatives have been
highlighted; among then in particular for the training framework
should be quoted:
- the FPU Senior Staff's Courses, to be held 4 times a
year, lasting four weeks and involving 40 participants each;
- the "Training/Mentoring of FPU Command Staff" courses
prepared for FPU and developed through the "train the trainers"
method. This course will last 3-4 week and would be completed with
a monitoring mentoring activity to be developed in the partner
foreign countries, through MAT (Mobile Assistant Teams).
Ending the meeting the DoS representatives have stressed the
complete satisfaction with the CoESPU standards and procedures, as
well underling the relevant achievement managed in the Stability
Police Training field up to now; it should be noticed that the US
President had already appreciated, at the UN Assembly General, the
preformed task in the peacekeeping field.
Insofar the representatives have underlined their commitment, that
should be developed through the UN diplomatic channel, to
widespread the CoESPU's activities in order to increase its role as
Center of Excellence beyond the G8 player toward the entire
international community. |
